I didn't catch when this particular show was from, but I'm assuming it was sometime in the mid-nineties. It was open lines for a bit, and then the guest came on. I wasn't really paying attention, so I don't know what his deal was exactly. At some point, he mentioned that he was in a terrible car accident that should have decapitated him. He was thrown 250 feet backwards, and the top of the car was completely removed from the vehicle. I guess the funny thing was that some kind of argument ensued with emergency personell when they were trying to put him in a body bag and he suddenly came to.
So, at that point I was listening. He had my attention. The guest started to say that he had left his body. I was expecting him to relate that he got some kind of message from the other side, that he walked into a white light, that he had an overwhelming sense of peace -- all of the things associated with the phenomenon of a near-death experience.
Instead -- and let me state that his voice didn't change in the slightest -- he went on to say "I fought and defeated El Nino. I beat the rain. Oh, it'll be back someday, don't doubt that. But I went into the heart of El Nino, and I beat it."
Wow. Somebody needs to make that into an inspirational poster and hang it in every office across America.
